Team scoop double award at FMPA event

21 May 2018

Accrington Stanley were double winners at the Football Medicine & Performance Association awards in Derby.

The Reds' medical team collected the League Two Members award and the League Two Medicine & Performance Team award at the event on Friday 18th May, at the Radisson Blu East Midlands Hotel.

The Members award is designed to recognise the exceptional contribution of a medicine and performance team within a club and is voted for by all of the members of the Football Medicine & Performance Association.

The Team award recognises that the vital work of the medicine and performance team is synonymous with a team's success and that they collectively made a significant contribution to the overall effort that resulted in that success.

Dr. Joyce Watson, Stanley's Head of Medical, said: "We're honoured to accept the two awards on behalf of everyone associated with Accrington Stanley Football Club.

"Without the staff, the mangers and the players we couldn't do our job, and we are happy to support the lads in what has been a very successful season.

"We have a small staff, but they have all worked brilliantly. Paul Caton has single-handedly done the physiotherapy for the first team, Paul Morgan supervises all of the academy and is assisted by Sports Rehabilitators Alan Cross and Laura Hodgson, with Laura helping us on matchdays too.

"It's fantastic to have been recognised by colleagues throughout the league and we are delighted to have won."
