Aaron Chapman is loving his extended run in the side this season and has welcomed the added competition following the return of on-loan Sunderland man Max Stryjek.
Chapman was singled out for praise by manager John Coleman following his FA Cup heroics that kept Stanley in the competition with a goalless draw at Guiseley last week.
But, Stryjek returned from a two-month injury lay-off on Tuesday evening, keeping a clean sheet during the 4-0 win at Wigan in the Checkatrade Trophy.
However, 27-year-old Chapman is now relishing the healthy competition for the number one spot between himself and the Polish stopper.
"I'm enjoying my time here," he said. "I've been given a run of games and I just want to keep that going, show everybody what I can do and help the team like I have been doing recently.
"It can be hard when you have two established goalkeepers at a club because in our position only one of you can play. But it means that when your chance comes around you have to be ready to take it with both hands - you will always have that pressure of somebody breathing down your neck, it can be a positive thing too.
"Max is a good lad, we work together and drag one another through training, we have that rivalry for the number one spot but we work as a team, he's here to play football but I want to play just as much as he does.
"He's come here from a Championship club and with a big reputation, a lot of clubs wanted him so straight away your thinking 'I best be on my toes here', he's still working his way back to full match sharpness after his injury but it's good to see him back."
Chapman's spell between the posts has coincided with Stanley's march to second place in League Two, but the six foot six goalkeeper insists that the Reds form is no surprise to him.
"We're flying at the moment," said Chapman. "From the outside people might not expect us to be, but nobody in the dressing room is surprised by how well we're doing.
"We had a great pre-season and our only aim has only ever been promotion, the gaffer tells us to go out feeling like champions and that will reflect in our performances.
"If we get the ball down and play our football it's hard for any team to beat us, I have a great view of it from the back and it's a pleasure to watch the lads."
