Accrington Stanley defender Josh Smith discusses the 5-0 Professional Development Phase win over Preston North End.
"We had quite a strong side and Preston played a lot of younger lads, but you've still got to turn up on the day and do the business and that's what we did, so I think we can be happy.
"It's great learning from the pros, they've got a lot of EFL experience, and that's where we're aspiring to get to.
"For us younger lads to come in and play with them and get exposure with them, it's massive for our learning process.
"I took playing for Newcastle Town in my stride really. I don't treat any game any differently, I always go into it 100 per cent and prepare the same way.
"Obviously, it's a bit different coming on playing against men, but I just enjoyed it, took it in my stride, and see where it takes me.
"Captaining the Under-18s has been a different responsibility, one that I think I've taken to quite well, and I've enjoyed the challenge.
"I'd like to think we've had a good season up to this point, we had a bit of a dip recently, but hopefully we can make it right."
