SIGNING: Jon joins on loan

Goalkeeper Jon McCracken joins the Reds from Norwich City on a seven-day emergency loan

Accrington Stanley have today completed the signing of goalkeeper Jon McCracken from Norwich City on a seven-day emergency loan.

Born in Glasgow, McCracken is a product of Hamilton Academical's youth system and joined City in 2016.

The 23-year-old, who had an emergency loan spell at Stevenage last season, also made four appearances for Scottish Premiership side, Dundee, earlier this year; but was recalled when The Canaries sold Tim Krul.

Jimmy Bell said: "Jon is a character, he seems very good around the place, he has settled in well and we have got high expectations for him as he has for himself.

"He is a good acquisiton for the club and the team to play on Saturday, if selected.

"The fact he has played with a few of our players already at Norwich Under-23s and has been on loan at a couple of clubs, bodes well.

"We are expecting good things for him."

Jon added: "I don’t know how long I will be here but I have got a job to do for the team.

"I know Toby is injured and that’s unfortunate for him but thankfully it’s presented an opportunity for myself to get some games.

"I know Brad (Hills) and Ships (Lewis Shipley) from being at Norwich, the rest of the boys, I have been here two days and it’s a good changing room.

"I spoke to Brad and Ships before I came here, and they were singing the club's praises, and I spoke to goalie coach Dibs (Andy Dibble) before I came.

"Brad has done really well and Ships was unfortunate to pick up an injury but the boys are loving it and have done well so hopefully I can replicate that.

"There is something on the line every single game, it's in a proper league with meaning behind every game and so it’s a challenge.

"I went to Stevenage at a crunch time, February/March when they were going for the league.

"That was a good experience going into that changing room with a top manager in Steve Evans and hopefully I can use that experience here."

A full interview video with Jon will be uploaded to the club's official YouTube channel later today, CLICK HERE to find out more!

The move is subject to EFL and FA ratification.
