Accrington Stanley have today completed the permanent signing of defender Kelvin Mellor from Crewe Alexandra on a one-year contract.
Mellor, who first joined The Railwaymen in 2008, made a total of 92 appearances and during a six-year spell at the Mornflake Stadium, he achieved Wembley success in both the League Two Play-Offs and EFL Trophy.
Permanent moves to Plymouth Argyle, Blackpool and Morecambe then followed, with the 32-year-old again securing promotion via the League Two Play-Offs as a Seasider and a Shrimp; before returning to The Alex.
Mellor's contract will keep him at the Wham Stadium until the summer of 2024.
John Coleman said: "Kelvin brings a lot of experience, that's something we have needed, we have quite a young defence, young goalkeepers, so that will be a plus.
"Even just training with him for one day, we saw how well he talked, how well he organised the defence and I think his experience will be invaluable.
"He has also experienced promotion from League Two a number of times, so he knows what it takes to get out of this league. He knows what it is about and hopefully that experience will stand us in good stead."
Kelvin added: "Experience is everything in life but even I am still learning. I will help anyone though and try and pass on my experience to the younger generation.
"In League Two you have to win the battle first and earn the right to play. You have to buy into everything the gaffer wants and there has to be a big togetherness - a combined effort from everybody at the club, the players and the staff - and we all have to work together to get success.
"I am here now and have time to get to know everyone, build relationships and that can transfer onto the pitch and help in that way."
A full interview video with Kelvin will be uploaded to the club's official YouTube channel later today, CLICK HERE to find out more!
The move is subject to EFL and FA ratification.
