INTERVIEW: Lukas hopes rollercoaster ride ends with a high

Burnley loan keeper apologises for red cards

Goalkeeper Lukas Jensen apologised for his two red cards this season but hopes he can make amends by keeping Accrington Stanley in League One.

The Burnley loan keeper was sent off in successive matches in March, against Ipswich and Portsmouth, for similar incidents – running out of the area and catching an opposition player.

“First of all, I have to say sorry to the fans for doing what I did, it was below my standards," said the 24-year-old.

“It was the exact situation, it was very poor from me, it was something that shouldn’t happen.

“Sometimes it’s the life of a footballer that you make mistakes. I think my reactions showed I was very annoyed, it happened once and then twice. It’s a decision in a second and, if you make the wrong decision, something like that happens and unfortunately I did it twice.

“If you look throughout the season, I have had through balls where I have got there before the striker so to have two is not great but hopefully we will get through them together.

“Hopefully, I have more decisions which go my way and I make the right decisions from now on.”

Danish goalie Jensen has been competing with Toby Savin for the No. 1 spot at the Wham Stadium and he knows it’s a massive six games for the club as they fight against relegation, starting with mid-table Fleetwood Town at home tomorrow.

“I am happy to be back in the team and I want to give everything for the team and club," he said.

“It’s been a rollercoaster, in and out, throughout the season, especially the last 8/10 games.

“But for me to play the amount of games I have, I am happy and grateful and we can give it the best shot for the last six games.

“Everyone knows the situation we are in at the moment, it speaks for itself, and every game is a must-win or at least get something from it.

“The spirit we need for every game is through the roof and we need to get points on the board and it’s life or death, whether we stay in League One or not.”
