SIGNING: Bailey's a Red

Defender Bailey Sloane joins the Reds from Clitheroe for an undisclosed fee

Accrington Stanley have today completed the permanent signing of defender Bailey Sloane from Clitheroe for an undisclosed fee.

Sloane, who was a scholar at AFC Fylde, began his senior career with Bury AFC in August 2020.

Following moves to Chester and Avro, the 19-year-old left-back then joined Clitheroe last season.

Having played against Ged Brannan's Under-23s side at Shawbridge in July, he recently impressed whilst on trial and has secured a two-year contract with the Reds.

John Coleman said: "I like Bailey's attitude; I like his hunger and he's a good footballer. We think he's got all the tools to make the step up, obviously it's a massive step up, but we've done it before with players.

"We can give him the opportunity, now it's pretty much down to him to take the opportunity. He's young enough and he's keen enough to learn, so we've got high hopes for him."

Sloane added: "I was buzzing when I got the call to tell me I was being offered a contract, I can't really put it into words.

"The feeling of being able to go and tell my parents was unbelievable, they were over the moon and it's always been my dream.

"My dad had told me to not take the pre-season game lightly as you never know what might happen, and obviously it did mean something."

The move is subject to EFL, Northern Premier League and FA ratification.
