Accrington Stanley and the Official Accrington Stanley Supporters' Trust (OASST) are delighted to announce a new partnership with #HerGameToo, which aims to raise awareness of sexist abuse within the realms of football.

The Reds join a number of clubs from the EFL and beyond to commit to the cause, creating further awareness to the problems faced in football by females.

#HerGameToo was founded by 12 passionate female football fans who are committed to growing the campaign with the aim of fostering an ethos in football in which women are welcomed and respected equally.

The non-profit organisation aims to create awareness, educate, research, develop a strong sense of community and create strong relationships with clubs, among much more.

Further aims include:

  • Creating regular content to champion women in football (players, staff and fans).
  • Creating strong relationships with club trusts and communities.
  • Having a presence at football grounds and sports bars to build a more welcoming environment for young girls and women.
  • Continuing to campaign against sexism in football and online abuse.

Managing Director, David Burgess said: "Accrington Stanley is an inclusive, community driven, football club.

"Partnering with #HerGameToo will give the club another opportunity and direction to support women into football, and especially at Accrington Stanley."

ASFC #HerGameToo ambassador, Jodie Boast added: "I am honoured to be asked to lead #HerGameToo for the club and the Supporters' Trust. I believe it is so important to promote, support and be inclusive.

"I would love to get more females to be involved with football, making them feel welcome and safe and I am thrilled that the club that I love is eager to get involved too.

"ASFC is close to my heart and this is the start of our commitment to the campaign and I am excited to get started."

OASST chairman, Peter Leatham said: "The Supporters' Trust are delighted that Jodie has agreed to become the ambassador for the #HerGameToo campaign.

"It's important that football recognises the growing and changing influences within the game and we always aim to be as inclusive as we can and to support all elements within our fanbase.

"I am sure our fans will embrace the campaign and we look forward to plenty of positive engagements with #HerGameToo."

#HerGameToo co-founder, Eve Ralph added: "We are delighted to be officially partnering with Accrington Stanley as we work together to promote and ensure a safe and inclusive environment for all at football.

"We are really grateful for the support and look forward to working together and paving the way for future generations."
