FIXTURES: Reds to host Charlton on opening day

John Coleman's side will travel to Derby County on New Year's Day

23 June 2022

Accrington Stanley will host Charlton Athletic on the opening day of the Sky Bet League One 2022/23 season!

The fixtures were announced this morning at 9am with Peterborough, Derby, and Barnsley relegated from the Championship and Forest Green, Exeter, Bristol Rovers and Port Vale promoted from League Two.

John Coleman's side have a home tie with The Tykes on Boxing Day and on New Year’s Day it’s a trip to The Rams.

Stanley's local derby at home to Morecambe is on October 1st with the return, at the Mazuma Stadium, on December 29th.

The Reds make the close trip to Bolton Wanderers on October 22nd and travel to the University of Bolton Stadium on April 1st.

Sheffield Wednesday come to the Wham Stadium on November 12th and the trip to Hillsborough is on Easter Monday, April 10th.

Port Vale are the visitors to Stanley on Good Friday, April 7th.

Captain Seamus Conneely said: "As players it's always good when the fixtures come out and it's nice to start at home against a team that's going to bring a big following.

"We've got two exciting games over the festive period in Barnsley at home and Derby County away, so I'm looking forward to going to Pride Park for the first time.

"To have Morecambe away in between those fixtures is also good, there should be a big crowd and an enjoyable one for the fans."
