Accrington Stanley have today completed the signing of defender Ryan Astley from Everton on a season-long loan.
Born in Llanfair Caereinion, Astley is a product of Everton's youth system and was handed his Under-23s debut at just 16-years-old.
Having made a further 71 Under-23s appearances, Frank Lampard then named the centre-back on the first team bench for their Emirates FA Cup victory over Boreham Wood in March.
The 20-year-old, who started in Saturday's friendly against Blackburn Rovers, is also a current Welsh youth international and has played for his country as an Under-17, Under-19 and Under-21.
John Coleman said: "Ryan has got a good pedigree, he has represented Wales at Under-21 level and has captained Everton’s Under-23s.
“We need a solid defender and Ryan ticks all the boxes.
“He is a nice lad and I think he gets what Accrington is all about. I am hoping for big things from him.”
Astley added: "I am delighted to sign. I was looking forward to a change of environment, I think I needed that at this time in my career, and the lads are class, they have all welcomed me and it’s been really good.
"I am looking forward to playing games where three points are on the line week in, week out."
Ryan's first interview video will be uploaded to the club's official YouTube channel later this week, CLICK HERE to find out more!
The move is subject to Premier League, EFL and FA ratification.
