Accrington Stanley midfielder Sean McConville has today signed a new two-year contract with the club.

McConville, who returned to the Reds in June 2015, has made an EFL club record 388 appearances and has contributed to 154 goals during that time.

The 33-year-old was top for assists provided in Sky Bet League One last season, with his total of 17 including hat-tricks against both Crewe Alexandra and AFC Wimbledon.

McConville's new contract will keep him at the Wham Stadium until the summer of 2024.

John Coleman said: "Sean is an outstanding servant to the club. We know exactly what we get and he never leaves anything on the pitch, he gives his all.

"He has a special affinity with the club and with the fans. He played nearly every minute of every game last season and was outstanding and we are glad and lucky to have him here for another two years."

McConville added: "I am delighted to sign a new deal. I want to thank the manager for putting his faith in me and the chairman for putting the deal together and getting me here for another two years minimum.

"The biggest thing is I love playing for the club. I love everything about it, I love coming in every morning, I have got a relationship with most of the fans. I would love to end my career here."
