NEW CONTRACT: Liam signs an improved two-year deal

Midfielder Liam Coyle signs an improved two-year contract with the Reds

15 July 2022

Accrington Stanley midfielder Liam Coyle has today signed an improved two-year contract with the club.

Coyle, who joined the Reds in July 2021, initially featured for Ged Brannan's Under-23s side before making the step up to the first team.

He has since made a total of 22 senior appearances and scored Stanley's third goal in last season's 5-1 victory over Fleetwood Town.

Coyle's improved contract will keep him at the Wham Stadium until the summer of 2024.

John Coleman said: "Liam's earned his new deal, he's a credit to himself and his family with the way he conducts himself on the pitch and in the dressing room."

"He's fearless, he's a good footballer and he will only get better.

"We've got really hot competition for places now, with Dan Martin and Tom Scully emerging, so we've got some difficult choices to make."

Coyle added: "It means a lot to me to sign this new contract."

"I came in last season and I felt I had a point to prove, I had a year’s contract and knew I had to knuckle down and work hard and do my best to get into the first team."

Liam's interview video will be uploaded to the club's official YouTube channel later today, CLICK HERE to find out more!

The extension is subject to EFL and FA ratification.
