Accrington Stanley have completed the permanent signing of striker Korede Adedoyin from Sheffield Wednesday for an undisclosed fee.
Adedoyin, who was born in Lagos, began at Manchester United before moving to Everton at the age of 10 and signed his first professional contract at Goodison Park in July 2019.
Following a loan move to Hamilton Academical, the 21-year-old then joined Sheffield Wednesday on a permanent deal a year later.
Having made his debut for The Owls earlier this season in the Papa John's Trophy, he made a further two appearances and found the net during a 4-0 win over Harrogate Town.
Manager John Coleman said: "I saw Cody play for Sheffield Wednesday's Under-23s against our 23s and he is one I have had my eye on for a while.
"He is lively and he became available on a permanent deal. It's a chance for him to kickstart his career so it's a fit for both parties.
"He is a skilful player, he has a good shot on him and he can go past people."
Cody said: “Originally I am from Nigeria and I came over to England when I was quite young with my parents and siblings.
“We first went to Manchester, I started at a local team and got scouted by Man United and was there from age 6-9.
"Then I moved to Everton for ten years and I went on loan to Hamilton when I was 18 after signing my pro contract at Everton. That was a good experience, I learnt a lot.
“I left Everton and signed for Sheffield Wednesday and everyone was welcoming. I was there for two years and had a good time there but I had a couple of injuries at the start. I am fully fit now and trying to push on at Accrington.
“This is a good opportunity for me, the manager has given me this opportunity, he kept the interest and showed trust in me and I am grateful he put so much effort into bringing me here.
"I want to show everyone what I can do as I haven’t had a chance to do that in the past.
"I prefer playing as a striker but can play on the right, I am quite fast and have good feet. I am a good finisher and I like being one v one around the box and feel like I am dangerous around the box."
He admitted it was touch and go as the 11pm deadline came and went last night.
“It was pretty hectic, even after 11 I still wasn’t sure it had gone through. I was glad when I woke up this morning that it had!"
The move is subject to EFL and FA ratification.
