NEW CONTRACT: Oli signs an improved two-year deal

Midfielder Oliver Patrick signs an improved two-year contract with the Reds

22 August 2022

Accrington Stanley midfielder Oliver Patrick has today signed an improved two-year contract with the club.

Patrick, who joined the Reds in July 2021, made a total of 15 appearances for the Under-23s last season and scored in October's 3-0 away win over Walsall.

The 19-year-old has twice been named on the first team bench, at home to Rotherham United and away at Shrewsbury Town.

Patrick's improved contract will keep him at the Wham Stadium until the summer of 2024.

John Coleman said: "Oli has worked hard since joining and hopefully when he gets his chance in the first team, he can take it."

Patrick added: "I'm delighted to get a contract extension. I went into last season with the aim of breaking into the Under-23s and I feel like I've earned my place in there now.

"There are a lot of centre-midfielders at the club, so if I can potentially get into the first team via another position then I'm happy to do that.

"It was a great feeling to be on the bench and it's what you've worked for your whole life, and just makes you want more."

The extension is subject to EFL and FA ratification.
