DEPARTURE: Perritt joins Torquay on loan

Defender on first loan spell and eagerness to play competitive men's football

Accrington Stanley defender Harry Perritt has today joined Torquay United on loan until January.

The 20-year-old has come through the Academy at Accrington Stanley and recently spoke out about his mental health problems following a broken arm and then a broken ankle which have hampered his last two seasons.

He is now looking forward to helping National League side Torquay challenge for a return to the EFL.

"It will be good for me to get out and play competitive men's football. It's my first loan and I am looking forward to it.

"I will do everything I can to get Torquay back in the Play-Offs like they were last season.

"I spoke to some of the lads and Sam Sherring was there last year and it has been nothing but positivity. Pelly (Harry Pell) is mates with the assistant manager and he said everyone is great there.

"It will be different as I haven't moved out before but it's the next stage of my career and, even out of football, being self-sufficient and doing things my way."

Perritt wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who responded to his first talk about how his injuries affected him.

"I wanted to say thank you to everyone for responding to my mental health interview. I had messages from people I have never met before, it's been nothing but positivity.

"It was massive for me, it took a lot to do the interview. Now I have done it, I will be able to talk about it easier and help other people. If I can help one person, it will be worth it.

"The Accy fans have always been supportive of me, even during the Youth Cup, and it will be nice to get the Torquay supporters on my side and show them what I can do."

Everyone wishes Harry all the best!

The loan move is subject to EFL, FA and National League ratification.
