An Accrington Stanley XI will compete in Clitheroe's Festival of Football competition in April.
Following the curtailment of their season, Clitheroe's Carl Garner has organised a unique eight-team tournament to be staged at Shawbridge.
The other seven teams taking part are:
- Barnoldswick Town
- Fleetwood Town
- Hurst Green
- Stockport County
The teams will play in two groups of four, with each of the group winners meeting in the final on Saturday 1st May.
As well as the standard points for winning and drawing, an extra point will be awarded to teams scoring more than three goals and/or keeping a clean sheet in each game to help determine a group winner.
Ged Brannan's side have been grouped alongside Clitheroe, Rimington and Stockport County, with the fixtures listed below:
- Accrington Stanley v Rimington - Sunday 11th April (11am)
- Accrington Stanley v Stockport County - Sunday 18th April (3pm)
- Clitheroe v Accrington Stanley - Sunday 25th April (3pm)
Unfortunately, due to the current Government restrictions around COVID-19, the matches will be played behind closed doors.
However, Ribble FM plan to stream the games and there will be live match updates on the club's social media channels.
Stanley's Managing Director, David Burgess said: "I've got a close link with Clitheroe and we're really thankful to be invited to take part in what is going to be an exciting few weekends of football.
"It's a great opportunity for some of our younger players and hopefully by then, restrictions may have been eased and we'll be able to get a few Stanley fans to come along and support the whole event."
