SIGNING: Procter becomes third arrival of the day

Defender Archie Procter joins the club from AFC Wimbledon for an undisclosed fee

1 July 2021

Accrington Stanley have today completed the permanent signing of defender Archie Procter from AFC Wimbledon for an undisclosed fee.

The Blackburn-born defender, whose uncle is Stanley legend Andrew Procter, has signed a two-year contract with the Reds.

Procter came through the youth system at Plough Lane and went on to captain the club's Under-18s side.

He signed his first professional contract in May 2019 and made his first team debut for The Dons in the Papa John's Trophy last season.

The 19-year-old has also spent time out on loan at Metropolitan Police, Carshalton Athletic and Maidstone United.

Reds boss John Coleman said: "I have known Archie since he was a baby and he has followed Accrington all his life.

"AFC Wimbledon wanted him to stay but he wanted to make the next stage in his career, he wanted a change of scenery and now hopefully he can kick on with us.

"He is a great pro, he is a good footballer, he is physically strong and he has good attributes and hopefully he can develop further here.

"If he is half as good as his uncle Andrew then we are onto a winner!"

Archie said: “It was a no brainer when I knew Accrington were interested. I was saying it to my family, this is the club which made me fall in love with football at a young age, because of Andrew and John (Coleman) and Jimmy (Bell).

“Andrew is delighted for me, he has always been there for me, and hopefully I can do similar to what he did for the club."

Archie's first interview video will be uploaded to the club's official YouTube channel later today, CLICK HERE to find out more!

The move is subject to EFL and FA ratification.
