Joe Pritchard scored the first Stanley goal at the Wham with the fans back in a 1-1 draw with Championship side Preston North End.
Pritchard rifled home in the 67th minute after a North End trialist had put them ahead just after half-time, in the first pre-season friendly at home of the 2021/22 season.
It was great to have the supporters back, with the Reds fans lively and in good voice in the Farleys Solicitors Clayton End.
Both sides fielded strong teams as they prepare for their season openers.
Former Stanley frontman Sean Maguire had the first chance, firing wide of James Trafford’s goal in the early stages.
Man City loan keeper Trafford tipped over a Ryan Ledson free kick on 13 minutes while Stanley’s first shot fell to Colby Bishop but he couldn’t connect cleanly with his effort.
The Reds grew into the game and Matt Butcher’s curling strike was well-held by Declan Rudd on 21 minutes.
Midfielder Ledson saw yellow for a high challenge on Pritchard in the centre of the park which resulted in a coming together of players.
Butcher’s strike from long range took a deflection and sailed narrowly wide of Rudd’s post while, at the other end, an effort by Emil Riis’ sailed across the goal and was also off-target.
Just before the break, a thumping header by Liam Lindsay was narrowly over the Reds goal as it finished goalless at half-time.
Toby Savin came on in goal at the break while PNE made a couple of changes.
Stanley had the first chance of the second half when a fierce goalbound shot from Dion Charles hit Tom Barkhuizen.
Burnley loan striker Joel Mumbongo came on for his Wham debut soon after but it was PNE who broke the deadlock.
On 52 minutes, a ball into the box from Barkhuizen was headed home by North End’s trialist, who came on at half-time.
The Lilywhites trialist almost had a second from a corner but it was blocked on the line.
Mumbongo made an impression, getting a ball over the top but he fired wide from a tight angle.
Stanley equalised on 67 minutes when a good cross in from the left from a trialist was volleyed home by Pritchard.
Mumbongo was desperately unlucky not to put Stanley ahead when Rudd superbly denied him from close range on 77 minutes while a Harvey Rodgers header was deflected over with ten minutes to go.
Mumbongo was denied again by Rudd in the dying minutes after the striker raced clean through with the keeper quickly out to block his shot.
And, in injury time, the Burnley loan frontman was again thwarted by the PNE keeper, Rudd diving to keep out his header to leave it all-square.
