NEW CONTRACT: Rodgers to remain a Red for a further two years

Defender Harvey Rodgers signs a new two-year contract with the club

9 July 2021

Accrington Stanley defender Harvey Rodgers has today signed a new two-year contract with the club.

The 24-year-old first joined the club on loan in January 2017, before making the permanent switch a year later.

He has made a total of 69 appearances for John Coleman's side, with 29 of those coming during the 2020/21 season.

Rodgers, who can play as either a full-back or at centre-back, also supplied the assist for Adam Phillips' winner at Portsmouth on the final day of the previous campaign.

The York-born defender's new deal will keep him at the Wham Stadium until the summer of 2023.

John Coleman said: "Harvey did really well last year, he's a confidence player and when we first got him he was fantastic.

"He then went to Fleetwood and lost his way a bit, but he was back to his best last season and long may that continue."

Harvey said: "I was happy with the way last season went, I played a lot more games than I thought I was going to from the previous season.

“Even though I played in a position I am not used to as much, as it went on I enjoyed it a lot more and I am happy to sign another two years."

A full interview video with Harvey will be uploaded to the club's official YouTube channel later today, CLICK HERE to find out more!
