Accrington Stanley can confirm that several Fleetwood Town supporters were ejected from the Wham Stadium during the game on Saturday, with one arrested for spitting at a Stanley player.

A small minority of away supporters were responsible for criminal damage, including ripping soap dispensers off the wall and flooding the away toilets.

Stanley staff have been in contact with the police and safety officers at Fleetwood Town, sharing CCTV footage to help identify the perpetrators.

Managing Director, David Burgess said: "The club will not tolerate poor and disrespectful behaviour from anyone within the stadium and will deal with any troublemakers in the strongest possible way.

"Supporters, both home and away, should be able to attend a football match with their families and have an enjoyable and safe experience at all times.

"99.9% of supporters enjoy their day at the Wham, and we intend to make sure that carries on going forward.

"The Stanley stewards did an excellent job on Saturday, containing a few individuals who had no interest in the football and were there to make a nuisance of themselves.

"We will let the police and Fleetwood Town conduct their own investigations and hopefully find the culprits and deal with them in the right way."
