DEPARTURE: Burgess joins Ipswich

Defender Cameron Burgess has today joined Ipswich Town for an undisclosed fee

15 August 2021

Accrington Stanley can today confirm that defender Cameron Burgess has joined Ipswich Town for an undisclosed fee.

The 25-year-old arrived at the Wham Stadium ahead of the 2020/21 campaign, with the Australian then making a total of 50 appearances for John Coleman's side in his first season.

Burgess also grabbed six goals during his time with the Reds, with the defender having scored on his club debut against Burton Albion in the Carabao Cup.

Manager John Coleman said: "I certainly didn't want to lose him, but you can't deny Cam the opportunity to earn three or four times his wages here and he leaves with all our best wishes.

"He went through the pain barrier on Tuesday to play a game for us and he was prepared to do exactly the same yesterday, so I think that tells you everything you need to know about the lad."

Everyone at the club wishes Cameron all the very best for the future.
