Three players have signed first year professional contracts with Accrington Stanley.
Goalkeeper Liam Isherwood, left back Jack Bolton and midfielder Dan Martin, all 18, have all put pen to paper on one year deals with the Reds.
Goalie Liam, from Clitheroe, has been with the Reds since Under 12s.
“I have been here seven years and I am buzzing to sign a professional contract,” said Liam. “It’s great training with the first team and I have learnt a lot from coach Tony Warner and Toby Savin.
“I started out as a centre half for my junior team but when the regular goalkeeper let a goal in, he used to cry so I ended up going in goal!
“Toby inspires me as he has come through the Academy and is now playing first team football.”
Liam is likely to be on the bench for the opening Sky Bet League One home game to Peterborough on Saturday.
“It’s exciting, I am buzzing,” added Liam. “I am always ready if I have to come on. I will be nervous but, if I come on, I will just play my own game.”
Dan, from Manchester, has come right through the Academy from Under 9 level.
“It was a good feeling to sign a professional contract. It’s been my dream since I was young.
“Training with the first team is great and you learn a lot from the experienced players. Ross Sykes is an inspiration as he has come through the Academy and is now a regular with the first team.”
Left back Jack, from Bolton, has been with Stanley from Under 16 level.
“I am buzzing to sign a professional contract, it’s what I have always wanted. You never know, it’s nerve racking waiting to find out and then it’s a sense of relief when you are offered a pro contract.
“I am learning a lot from the coaches and the first team.”
