Accrington Stanley have today completed the signing of midfielder Tariq Uwakwe from Chelsea on a season-long loan.
London-born Uwakwe has been at Stamford Bridge since the age of seven, with the versatile midfieler then progressing through the youth ranks at the club.
The 20-year-old signed his first professional contract with the club three-years ago, and featured 11 times for the development side last season.
Tariq, who can operate centrally or out wide, has also represented England at multiple different youth levels.
After joining the Reds, Uwakwe explained that he is very much looking forward to getting his 2020/21 season underway at the Wham Stadium.
"All I'm trying to do is impress here and push on from that really.
"I can't remember the last time I played a competitive match that was actually for three points, so I'm raring to go.
"I'm a player that just likes to get on the ball, whether it's in the defensive or offensive third, I just like to get on the ball, link up the play and get more players involved."
Tariq's first interview video will be uploaded to the club's official YouTube channel later today, CLICK HERE to find out more!
Manager John Coleman is hoping that the 20-year-old will be able to excite the fans when they can return to games at the Wham Stadium.
"He's an exciting player from Chelsea, and he gets to come here and take his chance in men's football.
"Hopefully we can give him the platform to kick on and he can excite our fans when they eventually return.
"We've had a look for other options going forward, and he's one that stood out so we're pleased to get it over the line."
The move is subject to Premier League, EFL and FA ratification, with Uwakwe set to wear the number 14 shirt during his time at the club.
