Accrington Stanley midfielder Tariq Uwakwe stated that he is raring to go after joining on a season-long loan from Chelsea.

The 20-year-old signed for the Reds earlier today and he admitted that the move to the Wham Stadium came about very quickly for him.

"It came as a bit of a quick one to be fair, I heard about Accrington and it just developed quickly over the last couple of days.

"I was just really ready to get my career started, I had an opportunity last year but it got hindered when I got a little blood clot in my leg, so I've been really ready to go from then."

Uwakwe has been at Stamford Bridge since Under-9s level and he explained how he has been speaking to his fellow teammates who have also been sent out on loan spells previously.

"I started with them when I was seven-years-old in the academy and built it up from there, I've grown with a lot of people as well but it's good to get away and get started on loan.

"You see a lot of people drop off and they don't make it there, it's hard to see but it's good to see that I've grown in that system and to still be there when I'm 20-years-old means I'm doing something right.

"I've been speaking to them a lot about loans last season and some have even gone already this season, so it was all quite positive.

"They were just talking about getting the experience and the game time, that means everything to a player."

This will be Tariq's first loan move away from Chelsea and he hopes that he can impress the fans during his time with the Reds.

"All I'm trying to do is impress here and push on from that really.

"I can't remember the last time I played a competitive match that was actually for three points, so I'm raring to go.

"I'm a player that just likes to get on the ball, whether it's in the defensive third or offensive third, I just like to get on the ball, link up play and get more players involved."

Uwakwe knows former Stanley loanee Sadou Diallo, and he admitted that he has already spoken to him about what to expect at the club.

"I know Sadou was here last season, me and him were both in England juniors together, so speaking to him was good.

"It was more a thing where I know last season there were a lot of injuries and his game minutes were increased because of that.

"He was just saying to make sure I'm on it in training every day and make sure you keep getting in the team and then impressing."
