After starting both games so far this season, goalkeeper Toby Savin is hoping he can again be named in the starting XI on Saturday to face Peterborough United in the club's Sky Bet League One opener.

The 19-year-old, who started against Burton Albion in the Carabao Cup and then kept a clean sheet in Stanley's 7-0 win over Leeds United Under-21s on Tuesday night, is enjoying being back training and more importantly playing games.

"It's been good, the main thing has been getting back playing, and getting back into being around the boys.

"I didn't really have to do much in the game, it's always nice to come away with a clean sheet and like I said I'm used to playing against a young side anyway."

Savin made two appearances for the first team during the last campaign and he knows that this year is going to be a big one in his career.

"It's a big season this year, I'm looking forward to Saturday and hopefully I can start and get into the team.

"Then I can do my best, and we can do as best as we can in the season and finish as high up the table as possible."

Both games so far this season have been played behind closed doors and the goalkeeper is hoping that fans will be allowed back in sooner rather than later.

"It's weird playing here with no fans, it's just everything about the club really.

"Hopefully the fans will be able to come back soon and it'll all be the same."

Stanley begin their Sky Bet League One campaign at home to Darren Ferguson's Peterborough side, and Savin knows that it will be a tough game.

"We go into every game all the same, it's going to be a hard game.

"We're just going to do our preparation right and go into is as another hard game, hopefully we'll get the win."

Savin also spoke of how well all the new signings have settled in at the club, with Tariq Uwakwe grabbing a hat-trick on his debut on Tuesday night.

"They're doing really well, Tariq with his hat-trick and Ryan Cassidy has scored a few.

"They're settling in around the changing room and they're good lads."
