UPDATE: 19 players and staff test positive for Covid-19

Four Sky Bet League One games suspended

27 October 2020

Accrington Stanley can confirm that altogether 19 players and coaching staff have tested positive for Covid-19 over the last week.

Stanley, in consultation with the EFL, have had four Sky Bet League One games suspended – last Saturday’s home clash with Bristol Rovers, tonight’s tie at Swindon Town, next Saturday’s match with Plymouth Argyle and the following Tuesday night game at Hull City.

It means they will therefore next be in action in the Emirates FA Cup first round at Tranmere Rovers on the weekend of November 7th

“We are understandably disappointed to be missing these games in what is an already unusual season without fans in the stadium,” said owner Andy Holt.

“The club is following Public Health England and the EFL's Covid-19 protocols and all the first team players and management will isolate for the required period.

“Thankfully all those affected appear to be showing minor symptoms and we wish them all a speedy recovery.

“We can’t wait to get back out on the pitch at the Wham Stadium.”

The club will not name those who tested positive and we ask their privacy be respected at this time.
