Accrington Stanley goalkeeper Nathan Baxter admitted that he is delighted to get his season-long loan deal over the line after joining the club from Chelsea earlier today.

The deal for Baxter to come to the Wham Stadium has been in the pipeline for a while, but due to circumstances at Chelsea it then had to be delayed.

"It's taken a while to do because of the circumstances at Chelsea but I've got to thank the manager for holding on for me and waiting, it's a club that ticks all the boxes for me and I'm delighted to be here."

Stanley have won two and lost two so far in Sky Bet League One this season, and Baxter explained that he has been watching the games live on iFollow Stanley.

"I've watched all the games on the stream when we haven't had a game at Chelsea, it's a team that plays football which is a massive tick in the box for me.

"An experienced manager and a well-renowned goalkeeper coach, they're all the things I look for when I want to take a loan."

When asked what the supporters can expect of him, Baxter was keen to stress that he is fully focused on the club and that he will always give his all for the shirt.

"I'm someone that gives their all for the shirt, I always say when I go on loan that I'm now an Accrington player, I don't see myself as a Chelsea player.

"I like to buy into the football club and I think all the supporters that have seen me over the years will agree with that.

"I've been supporter's player of the year at a couple of teams and I think that's because they know that I'm giving my all for the shirt and I'm wearing my heart on my sleeves.

"I'll do everything I can day in, day out to make sure we have a successful season."

The 21-year-old has already made over 100 first team appearances during various different loan spells, and he feels as though that experience will only help him during the current campaign.

"This is my sixth now and they've all been pretty much a year long, so hopefully I'll bring the different experiences that I've learned on each of my loans and try and help the team.

"I've played a lot of games for my age which is obviously a positive, I know it's quite a young side but it's important I have a positivity about me to try and influence the team in a really good way."

Westminster-born Baxter also went on to say that the chance of playing under manager John Coleman was a big factor in him wanting to join the Reds.

"One of the managers I've previously played under and one of the first team staff at Chelsea know him really well and everyone speaks really highly of him.

"I think it'll be really good for my development to play for someone that's been around the block and I can learn from, which is why I've come here."
