Accrington Stanley and main event sponsors HML Recycling have had to cancel this year's Funfair and Fireworks display at the Wham Stadium due to the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak.
Plans had already been put in place to hold this year's annual family event at the Wham Stadium, however the current local restrictions have forced the club to cancel the borough's principle firework event.
After three successful years, the Funfair and Fireworks event had become the town's premier event for families to celebrate Guy Fawkes night, with over 2,000 locals scheduled to attend this year.
Stanley's Commercial Manager, Daniel Bowerbank said: "This year would have been the fourth annual Funfair and Fireworks display, and we were setting up for a massive family fun night out.
"HML Recycling, who also sponsor the main stand, had once again fully committed their fantastic support to the football club and the local community, along with event partners Magical Fireworks and John Collins Funfairs."
"Although the event will not take place in November, it is hoped that we can add it into the calendar later this season, possibly around a welcome back to the Wham event for supporters and their families."
HML Recycling's Managing Director, Stuart Rogan added: "Obviously we are very disappointed that this year's event cannot go ahead, however we understand that this is unavoidable.
"Hopefully fans will be allowed back soon and we look forward to supporting next year's display, as it's such a great community occasion."
