The Accrington Stanley Board have agreed to offer a 50% refund to anyone who purchased a Season Ticket for Season 2020/21.
The club had expected up to 1,000 home fans to be able to return to the Wham Stadium for the game against Oxford United on Saturday 26th September until the Government subsequently suspended all proposed pilot events for the return of supporters to football stadiums until further notice.
The club are unable to predict as to when the Covid restrictions will be lifted and when Stanley fans will be allowed back into the stands and terraces at the Wham Stadium.
Managing Director David Burgess said: “When we began to sell the Season Tickets it was on the back of the Government’s pilot scheme to allow up to 1,000 supporters back into stadiums.
“When the pilot schemes were suspended, and there was no indication as to when they might be resumed, it was obvious it was going to be a long period of time before fans would be allowed back.
“Added to this was the Government’s decision last weekend to return to lockdown for a month from Thursday 5th November, so we thought it was only fair to offer a reimbursement as we were unable to deliver what we had promised in terms of a return to watch live football to fans when purchasing a Season Ticket.
“We will offer a 50% refund to anyone who purchased a Season Ticket for the current season.
“We have listened to the fans and there are three options: one is to not claim a refund and leave the money with the club, the second is to claim a refund and the third is to donate the money towards the furnishing of the new Supporters Bar which will be built as part of the new buildings along the main stand.
“Either way we hope this goes some way towards easing the fans frustration of not being able to watch the Reds live.”
Season Ticket holders can claim a 50% refund until 4pm on Monday 30th November as follows:

Please Note – The retail shop will be closed from 4pm on Wednesday 4th November until the lockdown restrictions are lifted.
Current Season Tickets will remain active and available for use as soon as the Covid restrictions are lifted and home fans are allowed back into the Wham Stadium.
Season Ticket holders will also continue to receive free of charge access to iFollow to stream all Stanley’s home games.

When making a request for a refund via the telephone, the Season Ticket holder will need to have the following available.
- Current Season Ticket number(s) including Block, Row and Seat number where applicable
- Season Ticket Payment receipt
- Bank and Sort Code details
Supporters who wish to claim a refund have until 4pm on Monday 30th November. No refunds will be offered after this date.
