CHARITY: November update

Commercial Manager Daniel Bowerbank provides an update on the club's work with local charities

18 November 2020

Last season Accrington Stanley worked with 17 local charities through bucket collections, flyer days or donating signed pieces of club memorabilia.

A couple of our key club community engagements events last year were the local food bank collection for Maundy Relief, along with our Christmas wrapping service provided by the players.

As a club, our #StanleyConnections business club are always looking to work with the club on additional community engagements and last year was no different.

HML Recycling donated a full pallet of tins, with the players, staff and management team also bringing in bags of food.

Studio donated their toy display sets to sell to local residents at fractions of the RRP, which then generated much-needed funds to support people who need to use Maundy Relief.

A full list of the charities we have worked with can be found below:

  • 4Louis, Annabelle's Challenge, Bobby Moore Fund, Brain Research, Breast Cancer, Derian House, East Lancashire Hospice, Jason's Wheels, Lancashire Women, Langho Nurses, Mayor's Ball (Chosen Charity), Macmillan, Pendleside Hospice, Phil Wright Crown Green Bowling Academy, Samaritans, Teenage Cancer Trust, and Zachary's Fundraiser.

Stanley's Commercial Manager, Daniel Bowerbank said: "As a proud community club, we aim to look after as many local charities throughout the season through donations or helping them with bucket collections on matchdays.

"We are always inundated with requests throughout the year, but we try and limit each local charity to one donation to ensure we can work with as many local charities as possible.

"This also retains the uniqueness of each item donated."
