Owner Andy Holt has said it's the right decision to curtail the Sky Bet League One season now.
Accrington Stanley had nine games left to play of the campaign when Covid-19 struck in March and now, under Points Per Game, will finish the season in 17th place after the clubs voted by majority to end the season today.
Andy said: "The uncertainly was affecting everyone but now the decision has been made, we can look forward in terms of player contracts.
"We needed the certainty so now we can start to rebuild the club for next season.
"I will say that I do not want to play behind-closed-doors games. For me, football is about the community and fans and I do not want to watch a game where there aren't any fans.
"We want to get back playing at a packed Wham Stadium but only when it's safe to do so."
