Seven-up for Clark

Winger keen to build on goals and assists and help Stanley climb the table

Jordan Clark is in seventh heaven at the moment – with seven goals and seven assists in all competitions.

The winger is looking to build on that as the Reds take on Lincoln City in Sky Bet League One at the Wham Stadium on Saturday, aiming to leapfrog the 14th placed Imps.

“I think I started off the season well and then suffered a dip in form,” said the 26-year-old who has two goals in his last two games.

“I am finding a bit of form now and have got a few goals and assists recently. As a winger, you are judged on goals and assists but to me the most important thing is winning, as long as we win, I am happy.”

He has therefore been happy with the last two games as the Reds overcame AFC Wimbledon and Shrewsbury to record back-to-back wins this season.

“We have pulled away from danger and that’s always been the main aim.

“It’s a massive incentive that, if we can beat Lincoln, we can go above them and that puts them under a bit of pressure too. You know if you win, you can jump up a couple of places and that’s big for us.

“This league is so close, anyone can beat anyone and it’s mad really. The teams up near the top have managed to get some consistency, something we have been missing a bit this season.

“Portsmouth were near us at one stage but they have been on an unbelievable run while Sunderland were struggling but can’t seem to stop winning now.

“At one stage we were heading up there when we went on our unbeaten run in December but a few losses and you are suddenly looking over your shoulder again. We have picked up again and we have got to see where it takes us now.”
