Reds kick off new campaign at home to Peterborough

21 August 2020

Accrington Stanley will begin their Sky Bet League One 2020/21 campaign at home to Peterborough on Saturday 12th September.

The Reds first away trip is to Burton Albion, the week after, who they also face in the Carabao Cup first round, date to be confirmed.

Over the Christmas period, Blackpool visit the Wham Stadium on 19th December while Stanley's Boxing Day trip is to Doncaster Rovers.

Manager John Coleman said: "It's great to be home first game, it's just a shame the fans won't be in to see us. Peterborough will obviously be a tough opening encounter but we are looking forward to the season starting now.

"It seems ages ago since I last managed a game and we all can't wait to get back playing competitive football again.

"Christmas is tough but they are all games we relish."

Coleman's men will face Portsmouth at home on 2nd January, the first game of 2021, and prior to this, on 29th December, Sunderland are the visitors to the Wham Stadium.

Over the Easter period, the Reds will face Burton at home on Good Friday and travel to Oxford United on Easter Monday.

The final game of the campaign is at Portsmouth on Saturday May 8th, the second time in three years the Reds travel to Fratton Park for the final game.
