Urgent work needed in Main Stand

29 March 2019

Urgent remedial work is being undertaken at the Wham Stadium affecting Blocks G, H and I of the HML Recycling Jack Barrett Main Stand.

Following the completion of the Studio.co.uk Eric Whalley Stand and construction work behind the Coppice Terrace, majority shareholder Andy Holt has given the go-ahead to redevelop part of the HML Recycling Jack Barrett Main Stand.

Underground remedial work is needed to help resolve issues contributing to the poor pitch condition in that area of the stadium.

Holt said: “Whilst we have the contractors on site sorting the area where the marquee was, we need to take the opportunity to rectify significant problems with holding water underneath that part of the stand which is ultimately causing some of the issues of flooding on the pitch.

"Also, several of the seats have restricted views and by doing the work now it will enable us to build better facilities for supporters in the future.

"I hope that Season Ticket holders will understand what we are trying to achieve and will continue to support the lads, albeit from another area of the stadium.

"To rectify these issues Rows E, F, G and H in Blocks G. H and I of the HML Recycling Jack Barrett Main Stand are being removed to undertake the remedial work and straighten up and align that area with the rest of the main stand.

"Due to ongoing flooding problems on the pitch over many seasons, we are also going to dig the whole pitch up and build another one from scratch straight after the last home game against Plymouth Argyle.

"The work needed at that end of the Main Stand is needed to support the work being done on the pitch.”

All seats in Rows E, F, G and H of Blocks G. H and I of the Main Stand will be removed following the Sunderland game on Wednesday 3 April.

For Stanley's remaining home fixtures (Rochdale, Walsall, Luton Town and Plymouth Argyle), Season Ticket holders currently seated in any of the above Rows will need to exchange their seat for available seats in the HML Recycling Jack Barrett Main Stand or for a seat in Blocks A or B in the Studio.co.uk Eric Whalley Stand.

This can be done either in person at the club office or over the phone. Simply contact Jess Fish or Sophie Jones on 01254 356950 with your current Season Ticket to hand so they can take the necessary details.

Season Ticket renewals for the 2019/20 season in any of the seats effected can relocate to any other available seat in the HML Recycling Jack Barrett Main Stand – these are primarily in Blocks A or B towards the Coppice End of the Wham Stadium, although there are a few seats in other Blocks currently available.

Club office staff will be contacting those who have already renewed their Season Ticket in Rows E, F, G or H of Blocks G, H or I of the Main Stand directly in the next few days to offer alternative seating for next season.
