When Stanley faced Burton Albion a decade ago, Sean McConville and Billy Kee were in the side.
It was the Brewers' first season in the EFL and the Reds won 2-0 at Burton with Kee, then on loan from Leicester City, scoring. Burton won 2-0 in the corresponding fixture at Accrington.
John Coleman admits a lot has changed in that time – especially in those players.
“I have got to know Billy well over the last decade. It seems he is a good fit, like me and Jimmy [Bell] to this club.
“We understand how he works. He is an honest lad.
“He wants to do well for the club and for the management team, I don't think there is anyone in the entire EFL who wants to do as well for their club and for the management.
“He has got a huge desire to do well for Accrington Stanley. You take the rough with the smooth with Billy. He will be the first to say he doesn't always get it right on the pitch but it's not for lack of effort.
“And he will be getting a certificate this week for his 12 minutes 'round the track' personal best on Monday!”
Like Kee, McConville is in his second spell with the Reds after leaving in 2011 after the Play-Off final loss to Stevenage.
“Sean has matured and developed over the years. I don't think he was very popular with the fans at first but there has been a radical shift and it's been down to Sean and his hard work.
“The first time he was here, he was battling to get in the team in 2011 but now he is one of the first names on the team sheet and that is down to him.”
Burton battled with the Reds in their UniBond and Conference days and Coleman admits one goal sticks out for him – in the Peter Swales Shield in 2002.
It was the equaliser, Stanley won on penalties and celebrated the treble that season.
“It was my last and one of my favourite goals. I rose like a salmon over Darren Stride to head it in. It is high up there among my 524 goals.”
