Stanley win local award

27 June 2019

Accrington Stanley won the main honour at the Hyndburn Business Awards 2019.

Stanley are extremely proud to have won The Beacon Award at the Hyndburn Business Awards 2019.

The club, along with the Accrington Stanley Community Trust (ASCT), were joint winners of the award which had over 700 entrants made up of other local businesses and organisations.

The Beacon Award goes to a local business that is an inspiration for all in the borough.

Stanley also received a highly commended in both the 'Made in Hyndburn' and 'Large Business' categories, with the ASCT also being a finalist for the 'Not for Profit' award.

The awards ceremony took place at Accrington Town Hall and was attended by over 270 local people from businesses across Hyndburn.

The award is received following Stanley's continued success on the pitch and the combined efforts of the club and the ASCT to put us at the heart of our local community.

Stanley's Managing Director David Burgess said: "I was hoping that the award would go to both of us because we work together all the time and everything we do is based around football and the community.

"Without each other we wouldn't be Accrington Stanley.

"It is not our football club, it is the community's and long after we are gone there will still be an Accrington Stanley."

CEO of the ASCT Martin Fearon said: "It's an amazing honour to win this award and we would like to thank everyone involved.

"It's brilliant to see the community value in what we are doing here at the Trust, as we take pride in providing opportunities for the local community."
