Stanley to face non-league opposition

4 June 2019

Accrington Stanley have today announced their third friendly of pre-season with John Coleman's side set to face Warrington Town.

The Reds have already announced friendlies with Bala Town (20th July) and Morecambe (27th July), but Coleman's side will make the 41-mile trip to Cantilever Park just two days after travelling to Wales.

Warrington, who are managed by former Stanley player Paul Carden, finished 3rd in the Evo-Stik League Premier Division before suffering heartbreak in the Super Play-Off Final in a 3-2 defeat to Kings Lynn Town.

Another two familiar faces to Stanley fans will be Warrington captain Mark Roberts who made 35 appearances for the club during the 2007/08 season, and club legend Jamie Speare who is the current goalkeeping coach for the non-league side.

The Yellows made national headlines during the 2014/15 season as the club reached the first round of the FA Cup for the first time in their history, where they beat League Two club Exeter City 1-0.

The game will take place on Monday 22nd July, 7.30pm kick-off.
