Lamine becomes fifth summer signing

15 July 2019

Accrington Stanley have today made their fifth signing of the summer with the arrival of midfielder Lamine Kaba Sherif on a free transfer.

The 20-year-old, who joins from Leicester City, has signed a two-year contract with the option of a further year ahead of the 2019/20 Sky Bet League One season.

Kaba Sherif joined Leicester at Under-10 level and he played a major role in the club's march to the Quarter-Finals of the 2016/17 FA Youth Cup, where they were beaten by eventual winners Chelsea.

The Guinean midfielder was also selected in The Foxes' ten-man squad for the 2017 HKFC Citi Soccer Sevens competition, with Kaba Sherif and his teammates winning every game en route to the HKFC Citi Soccer Sevens title.

Stanley manager John Coleman said: "Lamine is an exciting prospect, he turned down a couple of offers from foreign clubs as he believes he can make his mark in England.

"It's a good fit for both him and for Accrington Stanley.

"He is an all-action midfielder, we had a look at him on trial and decided quickly he is for us."

Kaba Sherif is Stanley's fifth signing of the summer transfer window.
