Carvalho: The boys have been different class

23 July 2019

Accrington Stanley winger Wilson Carvalho emphasised how everybody at the club has welcomed him with open arms after joining the club this afternoon on a free transfer.

The 26-year-old, who has signed a one-year contract with Stanley, has been with the club for the majority of pre-season and he admitted that it feels good to finally get the deal done.

"It feels good, it's took a while, but I'm glad I'm signed up and I'm ready for the season.

Carvalho has already showed the Accrington fans that he operates well on the wing, but he was also keen to stress that he can play in any of the attacking roles.

"I'm quite dynamic in a sense of I can play different positions, especially in a front role.

"I think that's something the manager sort of likes."

The former Port Vale and Stevenage winger emphasised that everybody at the club has been really welcoming and that he gets on well with the rest of the squad.

"The boys have been different class, the manager (John Coleman) has been different class, Jimmy (Bell), John Doolan, everyone.

"I just get on with the boys."

Carvalho was born in Lisbon before moving to London, and when asked about how the move to Accrington came about, the 26-year-old noted that Stanley's assistant manager played a pivotal role in him joining the club.

"I was at Port Vale and Jimmy (Bell) was there, he was my Under-21s manager."
