Mangy joins Fleetwood

22 February 2019

Andy Mangan has left Accrington Stanley to take up a full-time role as a coach at Fleetwood Town.

The striker was already coaching at Fleetwood's Academy and has now been offered a full-time position at Highbury.

Mangan was part of the Stanley team which won the Conference in 2006 and returned in the summer as a player, making six appearances.

"Accrington gave me my first professional contract and started me on the path to my professional football career and they have now started my coaching career," said the 32-year-old.

"I want to thank the gaffer, Jimmy (Bell), John (Doolan) and everyone at Accrington Stanley for giving me a chance on coaching. They have helped me develop my coaching side as well as allowing me to get the last bit of my playing career out of my system.

"We have been working on finishing the last few weeks - especially attacking the ball - and it's been great to see it come off in the last two games. I will be back at some stage!"

Manager John Coleman said: "I will miss his impersonations! He is a better Jordan Clark than Jordan Clark!

"Andy is a great lad, a great friend and it's great he has been offered a full-time coaching role. He loves football - he eats, drinks, breaths and sleeps it and I am sure he will have a successful coaching career."
