Generous shirt giveaway donation

8 April 2019

David Leaver was so impressed with Stanley's 'schools shirt giveaway' initiative last year that he has generously donated towards the next event.

More than 1,200 Accrington Stanley shirts were presented to local primary school children in February 2018, and then again the following November.

Mr Leaver decided to show his support for the scheme and make a generous donation towards the next batch of shirts due to be distributed to Year Three children in autumn 2019.

More than 1200 eight-year-olds will come along to the Wham Stadium to receive their free shirt from the first team squad, as well as have a school photograph taken in front of the Studio.co.uk Eric Whalley Stand.

"I saw the initiative and thought that it was a brilliant way of engaging and encouraging the young supporters to come along to Accrington Stanley and follow their local team," said Mr Leaver. "I just wanted to show my support for the giveaway and help in some way and so I donated towards some of the cost of the shirts."

Stanley Managing Director, David Burgess said: "The donation by Mr Leaver is a lovely gesture towards the cost of the shirt giveaway and really appreciated by the football club.

"The Community Trust, Studio UK and others have donated to the shirt initiative and will welcome anyone within the community who wants to get involved to contact the club to see how they can do that."
