PREVIEW | Burton (H)

7 September 2018

Accrington Stanley will look to get their first home win of the 2018/19 campaign tomorrow when Burton Albion visit the Wham Stadium.

The fixture was a Northern Premier League contest almost two decades ago, but both clubs have climbed through the divisions to face each other for the first time in League One on Saturday.

Nigel Clough's side are on the hunt for their first point away from home in League One this season, having been beaten at Gillingham, Bradford and Oxford on the road so far this term.

The Brewers last went on a longer run of consecutive away defeats back in March 2012, when they went six games without securing a point.

The Reds last hosted Burton at the Wham Stadium in February 2015, Josh Windass scoring in the first half to give Stanley a 1-0 win in League Two.

John Coleman's side have lost just one of their last 15 home league games, however they have yet to win any of their opening three home games since being promoted to the third tier.

Since the two sides first met in the EFL in the 2009/10 season, Burton have won five and drawn two of the 12 games played.

Team News

John Coleman is hoping Billy Kee will be available to play after the striker received treatment for a foot injury that saw him miss last weekend's draw against Scunthorpe.

Loan signings Luke Charman and Connor Hall have trained with the squad this week and are both available for selection.

"[Kee's] had some good treatment this week," said Coleman in his pre-match press conference on Thursday morning.

"He's had an injection and an ultrasound scan as well and we think we've got to the bottom of the problem. Hopefully he'll train over the next couple of days and we'll see how he is for Saturday."

Burton will be without leading goalscorer Liam Boyce who is away on international duty with Northern Ireland, after scoring five times in all competitions for the Brewers this season.

Goalkeeper Stephen Bywater is set to miss the game with a shoulder injury keeping him out for a number of weeks, and defender John Brayford has a hamstring issue.

“It's never been an easy place to get a result and [Stanley] have had a good start," Clough told the Brewers official website. "You know what John Coleman's teams are going to be about. They are going to fight and scrap and work incredibly hard.

“It will be a very evenly contested game on Saturday and we will want the same kind of attitudes as the lads used to show in non-league all those years ago."
