Hall happy with debut

10 September 2018

Connor Hall admits he was ‘itching' to get on the pitch and make his Stanley debut against Burton Albion at the weekend.

The 20-year-old striker, on loan from Bolton Wanderers, came off the bench in the second half to make his first appearance in the EFL.

The frontman joined the Reds with two minutes to spare in the summer loan transfer window, and says he's enjoyed his brief time with Stanley so far.

“I love it, it's a good club,” said Hall. “I'm getting on well with all the boys and getting on well with the coaching staff as well.

“I had a feeling this week that I wasn't going to start, so I worked hard and tried to earn a place on the bench which I did.

“Against a team like Burton, obviously relegated last year from the Championship, it was always going to be a tough test. I feel like coming on to help the boys get a point was good.

“I had one or two chances myself which hopefully I'll put away next week, but we did well and showed good character to come back from 1-0 down and I thought I put in a good shift."

The young striker almost got his Stanley debut off to the perfect start, only to see his 81st minute shot come back off the post.

Hall said: “[My shot] was so close!

"From the angle I was watching it I thought it was going in, just creeping in the corner, but then it curled out at the last minute and hit the post.

“It would have been a dream debut.”
