Duo up for awards

3 September 2018

Accrington Stanley's Billy Kee and Callum Johnson have both been nominated for Northwest Football Awards.

John Coleman's side were crowned 2017/18 EFL League Two champions following a phenomenal run that saw them climb up from ninth to win the title by five points over second placed Luton Town.

Kee was named League Two's Player of the Season and earned the Golden Boot after scoring 25 goals in the Reds' title-winning campaign.

The striker has now been nominated in the Northwest Football Awards' League Two Player of the Year category.

21-year-old Johnson has been nominated in the Rising Star of the Year category.

The right back joined Stanley on loan from Middlesbrough in August 2017, before making the move permanent the following January.

Johnson made 35 appearances for Stanley in all competitions last season, scoring his first goal for the club against Forest Green Rovers in March and helping the side keep 17 clean sheets in League Two.

Supporters can vote for Billy and Callum by visiting the Northwest Football Awards 2018 website, and casting their vote online.
