Conneely goes to school

26 September 2018

Stanley captain Seamus Conneely paid a surprise visit to a group of lucky Year Five pupils at St Peter's and St Paul's in Rishton.

Conneely took part in the children's 'Move and Learn' lesson about diet and nutrition, before answering questions about his life as a footballer.

The Reds' skipper was quizzed about his own diet and the importance of exercise, before posing for photographs with the pupils and signing their fixture posters.

Josh Cooper, Accrington Stanley Community Trust's Community Sport Officer, said: "It's great to have the support of the players and it was great to see the children asking him questions regarding the session content. The children enjoyed having Conneely surprise them in their lesson today."

The Kinder+Sport 'Move and Learn Project' is part of confectionery company Ferrero's global initiative designed to encourage an active lifestyle in children across the world, and has already reached 15 million children.

Targeted at primary school children aged between nine and ten years old, the programme combines six weeks of practical sporting sessions with classroom based activities.

During each 90 minute session children learn about the body, diet, nutrition, foo groups and the importance of exercise as well as taking part in a session of football, handball and dodgeball.
