Confidence high: Ozzy

10 October 2018

Double hero Offrande Zanzala admitted his three goals so far this season have given him a massive boost - and he is determined to carry on hitting the back of the net.

Zanzala scored the late winner against Doncaster in the league and then scored a brace in the 4-1 Checkatrade Trophy opening group game win over Macclesfield last night.

His second was initially given as an own goal but 'Ozzy' says it's definitely his.

"100 per cent mine, I put the ball in the back of the net," smiled the striker. “But it's about the team and we played magnificently. It was a great opportunity for the lads who haven't got a lot of game time this season.

“We put on a great performance for ourselves, the fans and we are making it harder for the gaffer to pick the team for the next game.

"For me, personally, I am delighted to score two goals but scoring against Doncaster as well has boosted my confidence to keep scoring and getting into the habit of hitting the ball in the back of the net.

“Last week was emotional for me, getting my first goal of the season, and last night has topped it off and given me confidence of taking on defenders and has helped me massively.

"Now I need to take it into the next game, keep performing every game and keep scoring goals."

Manager John Coleman has now got a headache for Saturday's game at the Wham Stadium against Bradford City.

“We are all great players, the squad is good, some good players don't even make the bench," added Zanzala.

"We are all fighting for our spot and want to win every game. You can see it in training, in games as well, and we have shown against Macclesfield than those who haven't played much can perform and get the win.

"You have to take the chance when it comes. It's a challenge every game but now I am scoring, I have got my confidence and I hope I can carry it on."
