Daniel Barlaser says he is happy with how he has settled in at Stanley after getting his first goal for the club, and believes the Reds have surprised people this season.
Stanley signed the young midfielder on loan from Newcastle United on the final day of the loan window, with the 21-year-old being called upon to start recently in place of the injured Seamus Conneely.
Barlaser scored his first goal for the Reds in the Checkatrade Trophy clash against Macclesfield Town last week, and admits he's glad to have ticked that box.
"It was relief because I was thinking it wasn't going to come," said the 21-year-old.
"I tend to shoot a lot from long range. Fleetwood away I should have scored and I think it was Doncaster where I drilled one literally right into the corner and the 'keeper's saved it.
"Even in the Macclesfield game I had a chance before I scored that I probably should have put away, but it was a good goal so it's a good start.
"I think I've played seven games now, one goal and one assist in four starts, and we're in the Play-Offs which a lot of people didn't think we were going to be.
"Teams underestimate us but we play very good football and we could possibly have even more points as well.
"Take the Shrewsbury game. I think if we'd have had 11 men that game we definitely would have won, and we had three or four games on the bounce where we drew after having countless amounts of chances so we could have even more points, but being in the Play-Offs is very good."
Barlaser has started in Stanley's last four games in all competitions with captain Conneely struggling with a groin injury.
The youngster, who has represented Turkey and England at youth level, is pleased to have been given the opportunity to show what he can do.
"I knew I had the ability but from looking at last year I knew that the manager didn't really change the team much so it was going to be hard to get in there," said Barlaser. "Putting me in early, me playing quite well and us winning is a big plus.
"The lads were saying when I first came that if you're in the team and the team's doing well then you're going to be in the team for a long time, but if you're not it's going to be quite hard to get into it, so I'm really happy to be in the team."
