Accrington Stanley players and management team were among the first to sign a huge White Ribbon recently to start 16 days of action from 25th November to stop violence against women and girls.
Councillors including Mayor Cllr Mohammad Ayub and Council Leader, Councillor Miles Parkinson, joined the Stanley players and management team to start the White Ribbon Campaign, which is the largest global effort of men working to end male violence against women.
Supporters of the campaign are asked to pledge never to commit, condone, or remain silent about men's violence against women in all its forms.
All Lancashire district councils, unitary authorities, Lancashire Constabulary and East Lancashire Clinical Commissioning Group have marked their commitment to ending violence against women and girls in a drive to educate and raise awareness of violence against women, and to engage men in the debate around the issue.
Stanley MD David Burgess said: “We are proud to be part of the White Ribbon Campaign and to be part of a community pledging to end violence against women."
Cllr Miles Parkinson, Council Leader, added: “We are proud to support the White Ribbon Campaign which demonstrates our resolve to do all we can to raise awareness about domestic abuse, whilst supporting services to help victims.
"The White Ribbon is now on display in Accrington Library and everyone is invited to add their signature to the campaign, so please sign up and show your support."
