John Coleman says he has his targets for January – and is ready to act.
The Reds currently have seven players on-loan and, with only five in a match-day squad, he admits it has been tricky giving them all game-time.
Connor Hall (Bolton), Dan Barlaser (Newcastle), Michael Iheikwe (Rotherham) and Nick Anderton (Blackpool) all have contracts until the start of January.
Connor Ripley (Middlesbrough), Luke Charman (Newcastle) and Matty Platt (Blackburn) have deals until the end of the season but there is the possibility of a recall in January in their contracts.
“I have a couple of players lined up to come in, in the first week of January,” said the Reds boss. “You have to assess what you think you need.
“We are all learning all the time, we made quite a few changes from last season and players have had to adapt.
“Players like Nick Anderton have benefited from playing regularly but we will have to see what happens in January.
“We definitely need more goals and we have one or two irons in the fire.
“I have been hamstrung and haven't been able to give players like Luke Charman much game-time because of the five player loan rule.
“I would like to see Connor Hall get a good run before the end of his loan spell.”
Defender Harvey Rodgers is back in training after a knee injury while striker Andy Mangan is not far off being fit.
