Clark wants more FA Cup heroics

9 November 2018

Jordan Clark has enjoyed Emirates FA Cup heroics in the past – and wants more.

The Reds take on League Two Colchester United at the Wham Stadium tomorrow but the winger knows it will be a tricky tie despite dreaming of a strong FA Cup run this season for Stanley.

“There isn't much difference in the leagues, they are flying high in League Two, they are third, and we know it will be a tough game,” said Clark.

“At least it's at home but they have always been a good side whenever we have played them.

“I do love the FA Cup, when I was at Shrewsbury we beat Sheffield Wednesday with the last kick of the game and then we played Chelsea. Mangy (Andy Mangan) scored – I am sure he will tell you all about it!

“We also played Manchester United when I was there so it's great.

“I love watching the draw, when your ball gets drawn out first and you wait for the opposition – it's a great competition.”

Clark has had to sit out a game through suspension already this season but got back on the goal trail against West Brom U21s in the Checkatrade Trophy midweek.

John Coleman is dealing with a few injury worries and the possibility of loan players being cup-tied but Clark knows the players who step in are good enough.

“We have good competition for places, we have a big squad and the recruitment has been good.

“Competitions like the Checkatrade Trophy are great for getting game time for the lads and so it means everyone is on their toes.”
